“I can resist anything but temptation” – Oscar Wilde

Here’s a Paradox you’ll definitely find hard to resist. This is the very classy Yalumba Paradox Shiraz from the northern part of the Barossa Valley. This is home of some of the Barossa’s oldest landscapes with 200 million year old bedrocks forming the soil in which the grape vines grow.

This is a gorgeous old vine Barossa Shiraz, aged 15 months in French oak puncheons and with a swag of rave reviews to back it up…

5 Stars & Top 10 Australian Shiraz (Cuisine magazine 2023)
“Looks great in the glass with a dense core colour which shimmers purple at the rim. A youthful wine still, despite time in bottle, with blue fruits, plums and oak characters on the nose and through the dense and fleshy palate.”

94/100 (Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review)
“The density and richness I expect from old vine Barossa shiraz with cassis, black fruits, liquorice, anise, chocolate-mocha and a generous serving of classy oak. Absolutely delicious now but with plenty of cellaring potential. Good acidity just stops it from being slightly porty”

93/100 (Stuart Knox, The Real Review)
“Rich and powerful with ironstone minerality and smoky cured meat savoury tones that dominate this wine. The black fruits sit with intensity underneath, but it is definitely a savoury spectrum wine”

93/100 (Ned Goodwin MW, James Halliday’s Wine Companion)
“Juicy and energetic, with a plume of clove and pepper-doused acidity.”

94/100 (Nick Stock, JamesSuckling.com)
“So drinkable and flavorful.”

Drink now or chuck it in the cellar and watch it evolve – this should be good to cellar up to 20 years from vintage.
