"We’re creating great wines without messing with the environment" – Peter Yealands.
In the 70’s he was a pioneer in farming Greenshell mussels. In the 80’s he turned to deer farming. Today Peter and his wife Val head the highly successful (and vast) Yealands Estate wine range.
Sustainability is the key for Yealands and this is echoed in everything they do. From allowing sheep to graze between the rows of vines, to using recycled glass and packaging in production. This is the man with one of NZ’s largest solar panels on the roof of his winery!
When he set out to create one of the world’s most environmentally friendly wines, he wasn’t mucking about. In true style Peter’s gone to the next level with his 2013 Pinot Noir packaged in his clean, green Eco-Bottle – a light weight, plastic bottle that’s shatter proof and 100% recyclable. It produces 54% less greenhouse emissions than standard wine bottles.
A Gold and Triple Silver medal winning Marlborough Pinot that’s soft, savoury and loaded with juicy dark berry fruit flavours. Do your bit for the planet, one bottle at a time.
