Made by Bleasdale who were the first winery established in the Langhorne Creek sub region way back in the 50’s….1850’s that is!
Named after the road (Wellington) that connects the Langhorne Creek to the Murray River, and the road Bleasdale has sat since 1850.
Only the best parcels of Shiraz (52%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (48%) fruit is used for this label, aged for 12 months in oak. Because after all, only the best of the best can be entered into Australia’s “Winewise Championship” where only wines that have won a Gold medal from a national wine competition can be entered. So, the best of the best!
And how did Welly Road go when going up against the best? It was the best! It took out Trophy & Gold for “Best Cabernet Sauvignon Blend”!
Also scoring 93/100 in James Halliday’s Wine Companion – who called it quite simply “Exceptional drinking at the price.”
