Look out for miniature lamb shanks coming to restaurant near you! Well known as certified CarboNZero and one of the most environmentally friendly vineyards in New Zealand, Peter Yealands has come up with an intriguing way of keeping the grass down between the vines at his 1,000 hectare vineyard.
After regular sheep developed a taste for grapes Peter trialed Guinea Pigs. But unfortunately they couldn’t keep up with the grass growth, so he’s introduced Babydoll sheep. The fact they only grown 60 centimeters tall means these little cute characters pose no problems with grape munching!
Peter also sees an opportunity to sell niche cuts of meats to restaurants not to mention the opportunity to provide high quality wool to the textile industry – all in the name of sustainability!
If Peter is in need of a cash injection he could start by flogging off the ridiculous amoung of bling this wine has won for him over the years. Sensational with seafood. Oysters…yum, fill ya boots!
